I promised a few weeks ago that I would write a little post on my favourite things we did in London, so here it is! I want to point out that this is in no way a travel guide since I’ve been there only a couple of times, these are just the things I really enjoyed!
Soho. It has that rugged charm that Raval in Barcelona has. A mix of charming bars and restaurants and not-so-charming strip bars. Very crowded streets but also lovely little back streets where you can find all sorts of interesting places.
Princi is a fantastic place for breakfast or lunch. There is so much to choose from and everything is delicious. The bread is made in an oven heated with firewood (I am sure there is a nice word for that but I just can’t come up with it right now..! ) and the place is modern and cool. (135 Wardour Street)
Bistro du Vin is a fantastic French restaurant. The decoration is lovely and it has a wonderful atmosphere. You probably need to book in advance. The cheese platter is very delicious. (In Soho)
Bodean’s BBQ: Here we had very good, cheap, fast dinner. It’s has the feeling of a fast-food place upstairs, downstairs you can sit down and dine if you feel like it. As the name indicates it’s barbecue-style meat, but very delicious and quite cheap. (Poland Street, Soho)
Notting Hill/Portobello market: I really enjoyed Portobello, the market and the cute little clothes shops and antiques. We had breakfast in a Le Pain Quotidien which I adore..! The interior is so lovely, and the breakfast we had amazing. It’s a little pricey, but well worth every cent. A lot of the food is organic, and so delicious. Le Pain Quotidien can be found here and there, not only in Notting Hill (this one is next to the tube stop).
Spitalfields: I love the Spitalfields market! First we visited a market with mostly artisan products, then we did some shopping in Urban Outfitters, Fred Perry and other nice places around there. We found a sample sale where I bought a leather bag for very little money, and there were many very nice vintage shops around. We also visited a place that served delicious food from all around the world, little stands with Vietnamese, Spanish, Japanese, Mexican and Ethiopian food to name a few examples. Oh, and we visited crazy beautiful Brick Lane, too! Well worth a visit!
Fitzrovia: Here we found lovely cafés, the below one for example (sorry but I don’t remember what it’s called!). The place was so nicely decorated with odd chairs, different wallpapers and second hand sofas. The nutella-banana cake was pretty nice too..!
Marylebone is great too, we had a stroll (now that is an understatement considering it was freezing cold and very windy and it was anything but a little stroll..!) on Marylebone High Street. There you find lovely little shops and also cafés and bars. It’s quite pricey though, so we opted for looking instead of shopping. We did visit Oxfam and I bought a second-hand book there, and we visited a lovely shop called Emma Bridgewater with wonderful pottery and things for the home (they ship internationally too!)
Uniqlo: We tried to avoid Oxford Street (because of the massive amount of people), but we couldn’t avoid Uniqlo, a Japanese chain with very good quality clothes for a good price. I bought a couple of cashmere sweaters and two shirts for work. I can really recommend it.
For shopping I also liked Regent Street and Carnaby Street, both packed with nice shops, Regent Street more old school and Carnaby street more young and modern.
And that’s about it! I want to go back now!

Lite dyrt men väl värt priset.
