As you might have guessed, some shopping took place on our trip. There were still a lot of sales going on, and buying American brands you can really find some things at very good prices. Below are some things I found (or actually, basically everything I found! =). I’ll put the prices too for some things just so you can compare, it’s basically half of the price you would pay here in Spain.
Macy’s might not be the most exciting of places, but I found it a good place for bargains and your usual Tommy Hilfiger/Ralph Lauren/DKNY kind of place. So I bought two knits from Tommy Hilfiger; a pink and a blue cable knit one (both of them around 27 euros):
And also a short-sleeved Ralph Lauren golf knit (no, I don’t golf and I doubt I ever will!). This is a really useless photo so sorry for that:
We also visited the famous Century 21, the place for designer pieces for very cheap prices. You need hours and hours to go through the stuff there, which I didn’t have the patience for, but I did find a pair of Converse for 20 euros:
Converse has a shop on Broadway, and I found the coolest pair of leather ones but I didn’t buy them there. I got obsessed with them and I couldn’t forget them, so the last day we had to walk through half of Manhattan to find them again. Poor Soul Man wasn’t too excited, but he is always a good sport and eventually we found them. They cost me about 40 euros (here in Spain they would be around 85 euros):
Good old GAP never fails, I found a little something there too. I bought a pair of pants for work, I didn’t take a picture of those I’m afraid because they just wouldn’t look good in a picture, but here is the website one:
But I also found a thin red belt I’ve been looking for since quite some time:
I also bought a nude shirt, GAP took a better picture of it than I did:
A shop that I can admit I had never heard about before was Club Monaco, and there I found some sales bargains, too, like this thin leather double belt:
They reminded me a lot of Massimo Dutti with their simple, classic style. I also bought a thin summer knit, no photo of that one I’m afraid.
The we come to a part of my shopping where I warn the most sensitive readers to leave please, because I am going to talk about underwear (OMG!). *hihi*
IÂ found the cutest loveliest little shop called Kaori’s Closet in Soho, they have the most wonderful Japanese underwear:
They had sales too, and I found a little something there:
And talking about underwear I also had a look in Victoria’s Secret, where I came home with some things too:
Now all you sensitive readers can come back again! I stopped talking about underwear!
In Victoria’s Secret I also fell for their 3 for 25 $ offer for all their lovely smelling things, so I bought a body lotion, fragrance spray and a shower cream. They smell yummy:
Then we visited Kiehl’s too, we have a store here in Barcelona but it’s all so expensive so I was looking forward to seeing the US prices. And it was indeed a very nice surprise! I found some things there too:
Next to Kiehl’s there was a Ricky’s store, which is a great place if you are looking for cheap shampoos. I bought a Redken shampoo and conditioner which I love, and a K-Pak deep conditioner (my hairdresser uses it as a treatment and I really like it) for next to nothing:
My favourite shopping areas were Soho with its little cool shops and the streets around Broadway from Union Square and downwards, you can spend hours and hours there looking at everything. I also liked Fifth Avenue from 30th street downwards (more or less), because that is where the stores that are more accessible to my purse start…
I had saved up money for months to afford the shopping, New York is really a shopping heaven. Anywhere you go you’ll find tempting shops, both chains with affordable prices and the little independent shops with gorgeous things. The good thing is that many of the chains also ship internationally, the only problem is the customs fee.
My Soul Man also found a little something, he didn’t go as shopping crazy as I did though. He was more into records as you might have guessed, and we walked into quite a few record shops I can tell you, and we came home with many kilos of vinyls. But almost everything was to my liking, so no problems there! Clotheswise he found some really nice things in Urban Outfitters (a really cool shop I have to say), American Apparel (which we also have in Barcelona but the prices are again quite different) and Club Monaco. Oh, and two gorgeous Michael Kors ties, too!
Well, that’s it, a little overview over the shopping we did!
*********************************************************************************
